Greenville Artist Top Five in her Group for the People’s Artist National Competition

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Lori Love, a local Greenville artist and Walton Academy art teacher, has advanced to the top five in her group for The People’s Artist national competition.


Presented by Johnny Depp, this competition is described on its website as “a nationwide celebration of artists.” The winner will receive $25,000, appear in Artforum Magazine and be given an exhibit at The Art of Elysium’s Art Salon in Los Angeles.

Demolition on Dickinson Avenue Heralds New Developments for the Area

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) — Demolition has begun on Dickinson Avenue, replacing pickleball courts with piles of rubble and clouds of dust as work begins on Brightleaf Townes.


Brightleaf Townes is a building project that aims to create 72 townhomes on the site, potentially housing up to 150 people. According to their Instagram page, they aim to provide historic roots, modern living and walkable vibes. The current goal is to open the townhomes December of 2027.
